Longform Lite
A lightweight DIY version of the live course taught by Venkatesh Rao and Sarah Perry
This course is a lightweight, self-guided version of the live ribbonfarm longform blogging course taught in Fall 2016 by Venkatesh Rao and Sarah Perry of ribbonfarm.com. It is an introduction to the "refactored perception" style of longform blogging practiced at ribbonfarm. It is primarily meant for potential ribbonfarm contributors, but may also be of value to those who want to borrow ideas from our playbook for their own blogs. This version consists of just the slide decks, with some brief quizzes, not the live lecture videos. We may publish a fuller version, with videos later. But for now, have fun with this.
Our blogging and editing philosophy has several idiosyncrasies and weird features, so if you're used to magazine feature writing or journalistic models of longform, some aspects of how we write and edit at ribbonfarm will strike you as strange, weird, and even outright wrong.
You can get this course for free if you apply to the Summer 2017 live version of the course.
